Brad Williams

Brad Williams was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in March 2016. Mr Williams has over 15 years of international infrastructure investment experience and is the Portfolio Manager for the AMP Capital Diversified Infrastructure Trust. Brad is responsible for the origination and management of existing investments across both transportation and university student accommodation sectors.

Mr Williams holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Wollongong and was formerly the Chief Operating Officer for the global AMP Capital Infrastructure division.

Paul Ibbotson

Paul Ibbotson was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in September 2017. Mr Ibbotson has over 25 years of experience in infrastructure projects and investments, including in the PPP/PFI markets in Australia and the UK.

Mr Ibbotson leads Amber Infrastructure Group's investment business in Australia. He holds Directorships in Amber's projects in Australia in the transportation and social infrastructure sectors, including in Gold Coast Light Rail.

Prior to joining Amber Infrastructure, Mr Ibbotson worked with Babcock & Brown in various principal investment and advisory roles in the transportation and infrastructure sectors in several international jurisdictions. Mr Ibbotson holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in law at the University of Cambridge and is a qualified solicitor.

Jiren Zhou

Jiren Zhou was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in December 2017. Mr Zhou has over 14 years' experience in infrastructure investments, funds management and financial services.

At AMP Capital, Mr Zhou is responsible for executing new infrastructure investment opportunities and managing existing portfolio assets. He has led transactions in various infrastructure sectors including rolling stock, airport, energy & utility, logistics and social PPP in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Asia. Mr Zhou holds directorships in a number of PPP projects including Victorian Schools and Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison.

Prior to joining AMP Capital, Mr Zhou worked for Pacific Equity Partners, a leading Australian private equity manager. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Master of Applied Finance degree, both from Macquarie University, Sydney. Mr Zhou is a qualified chartered accountant (Australia & NZ) and a member of Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Martyn Jackson

Martyn Jackson was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in June 2009. Mr Jackson has a long involvement in PPP's having overseen the construction and transition into full operational service of a number of Australian projects. He is currently on the board of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP as well as a number of social infrastructure PPP's.

He previously led the PPP Asset Management team at Babcock and Brown and more recently has led the Amber Infrastructure team on a number of successful PPP transactions.

Robert Rust

Robert Rust was appointed a director Reliance Rail in April 2018. Mr Rust is a Civil Engineer with an MBA and an Associate of the AICD. He has spent the majority of his 40-year career working on major projects for both the private and public sectors, including a number of PPP’s in the economic and social infrastructure sectors, and also working across the full range of delivery models. He has been involved in and lead project development, procurement and delivery on both the client and contractor sides.

His public-sector work has been at the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer level, involving both developing and delivering a portfolio of projects for NSW Health and developing and awarding the first two stages of the WestConnex Project. He has a detailed understanding of the capital procurement and budgeting processes within government and the roles of the various agencies.

Most of his private sector work has been in joint ventures, including with French, Japanese and Korean companies, and he has been instrumental in setting up and managing these arrangements. He has been Bid Director on several major projects and brings a strong commercial and technical focus to project development and delivery with a successful background in claims resolution.

Robert has recently taken on Chairperson and Non-executive Director roles.

Chad Smithies

Chad Smithies was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Rail in July 2018. Mr Smithies has over 17 years of engineering and commercial management, rolling stock leasing and project delivery experience in the rail and aerospace industries in the UK and Australia. Previously Mr Smithies led the contract management function for Reliance Rail through the end of the delivery phase and into steady state operations, with a focus on safety, performance and asset management.

Prior to joining Reliance Rail in 2012, Mr Smithies worked for Sydney Trains, overseeing operational readiness for the introduction of the Waratah trains, managed rolling stock leases for Angel Trains, a leading rolling stock leasing company in the UK and prior to this worked on the sales and marketing of small satellites for a UK technology company. Mr Smithies initially qualified as a commercial pilot and holds an Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering from Kingston University in the UK.
